Holding your toes

Well you have mastered yet another skill. You started holding on to your feet. Actually more like your right foot, the left foot you're not that interested in for some reason. Sometimes you try really hard to put the foot in your mouth, and you almost succeed.

Not sure why but you don't seem too interested in rolling over these days. I've seen you do it a few times quite early and now you just stay on your tummy for a while and when you get tired you usually put your head to the side and just lay there or you get frustrated and start crying.
Also it worries me that when we go outside in the sun that your eyes water a little and your eyelids get a little bit red, and you even get little red spots on your face. I don't know if it's an allergic reaction to the sun or something. You always have a hat on and since I know that you dislike the bright sun we usually try to cover you up pretty well to shield you from it. I'll have to ask the doctor about that at your 6 month check up.
Otherwise you're the happiest little baby on the planet. You smile and giggle all the time and you're very ticklish... especially at the bottom of your feet.
Here are the latest pictures that I took with my new camera - a Nikon D60 that I got for Mother's day. Thank you and Daddy for your awesome gift and the scavenger hunt I had to go on to find it in the morning. Now I just have to learn how to use all the cool features on it.

5 Months

Well yet another month has passed by and you're getting bigger and bigger. You have beautiful blue eyes, very fair skin, and lots of blondish hair! Sometimes it even looks a little bit reddish in pictures. Just this week you started to hold your legs and your little feet in your hands, I haven't yet seen you put your toes in your mouth, but I have a feeling it will be very soon. Everything has been going in your mouth these days, everything! When you have a pacifier in, there are times when you pull it out, play with it, then put it back in.
The solid feedings have been ok... I decided not to really force it too much. I had you try Oat Cereal this week and you seemed to like it more than Rice Cereal, but there is still a lot of spitting out going on... may be in a few weeks I'll try some veggie food to see if you like that.
Toys, toys and more toys, you now have so much more interest in them. I can dangle something in front of you and you will reach for it and grab it, hold on to it, and very likely put it in your mouth.
You're the cutest in the mornings. After you're fed I usually take you to daddy and wake him up by putting you on the bed next to him. You are so calm and cuddly at that time, I see you just fall into his arms and lay there so cute... it makes it that much hard to to leave for work!
You smile and laugh all the time, especially when you see me or daddy. The things that make you laugh are strange noises that we make in front of you, exercises with your arms and legs, and when we get you going you're also ticklish.
Chatting has also been a lot of fun for you. It's like your little language... I can't wait till they actually start making sense to us. :)
You're now down to eating 5 times a day, 5-6 oz/meal. You are definitely gaining some weight, getting some chubs and I am not too worried anymore, but you are still our little munchkin.

First solid food

Your first solid food experience was not the best. First we put you in a little seat and I don't think you were comfortable in it. Then instead of mixing the rice cereal with a little bit of breast milk, for some reason I mixed it with water. It didn't look appetizing and was super watery. You made really awkward faces when the spoon would get into your mouth and you pushed all of it out with your tongue.  Then I tried again in a day and this time you were in the swing and after a few spoons you actually started to swallow, so that was pretty exciting. Now it's pretty much a hit or miss, sometimes you seem interested and other times like today, you are absolutely not interested in it. So I think it's still a bit too early, so I will probably wait for a few more weeks until introducing any other foods.
You're quite a talker lately, and you now laugh when you get tickled or at different noises that we make. I've seen you roll over a few times now, from tummy to back, you stand on your little feet very well, and you love sitting. You even start fussing when you're laying down because you want to sit up. You're still sleeping through the night, usually from about 9pm to 6am, sometimes you decide to wake up earlier though. You are not a good napper though, you take may be one good nap in the morning, but the rest of your naps are less than 1 hr, and sometimes only 20 minutes long if anything at all, but I guess we can't ask for everything. In any case I'd rather have you sleeping well at night!
