What's that?

Every day I see you do something different and I never stop being surprised.
You have been chatting away for a while now. You often point and say the word when it's something you recognize, but what happens when you have no idea what you are looking at? Well you now ask!
I was putting you in your pjs after a bath and you turned your head and saw daddy standing there and you pointed at him excitedly and said "daddy", then you pointed down to his shorts that had a brand label stitched on it ("champion") and said "What's that?" Pretty random right?

I think this is the start of your "curios" stage, or not really the start of that stage, but the beginning of verbalizing it. You will start asking us "what's that?" and "why?" all the time, I just hope to know all the answers! :) I am sure I will not, but hopefully I will be creative enough to make up answers on the spot.

I've also noticed that you have a very good memory. I had given you a puzzle w/letters which you have not seen before. Most of the puzzles you've played with are 10 pieces or less and you've conquered them all. This one was an alphabet puzzle, so more than twice the pieces and in a matter of a few days you can put it together all on your own.
Another example of your curious mind and great memory was while I was reading you a book called "If you give a pig a party". I didn't know that you and daddy had read this book a few times already, but you requested to have it read before bed time, so I went with it and to me it was brand new. In the middle of the book, there is a page where the pig plays hide and go seek and her friend animals hide. I quickly flipped the page to go onto the next one after reading the text and you said "no" and flipped it back to the Hide n seek page and proceeded to point out all the animals "hiding". I didn't even pay attention enough to see that all of them were camouflaged against either a tree or grass or door, but thanks to you I know where each one of them is. Some of them only had the feet or ears peaking out, but you still knew who it was.You pointed out every single animal and his hiding spot to me (apparently something you do w/daddy) and then happily moved on to the next page. I am biased, but I thought it was the cutest little thing.

Here are a few pictures from our Valentines day. We went to the aquarium in La Jolla. Last time we were there was when cousin Sarah visited and you were about 5 months old.
We had a very nice time there w/your buddy Kingston and his parents. We followed it up with some very yummy Mexican food! In the evening you helped me make sugar cookies and we also made cupcakes which we took to my work the following day. It was a very nice and relaxing day spent all together!

Gotta love a beautiful sunny day in San Diego!

One of the rare shots I got of you actually looking at the camera.

Most of the time you were just staring at the fish

Yummy!
